Don't get MSI P35 Neo2-FR. I returned it because it reset itself when you reboot it. Get Gigabye GA-P35-DS3R Rev 2.1. I just got it for a week or so. Good OC and stable. I could go higher than 3.2Ghz but my RAM doesn't allow it. I could boot to XP @ 3.6Ghz, but not stable.

another vote against the msi neo2

The boot up sequence is strange, and I did not like the way it treated my hard drives. (I cringed every time it powered off. I know it makes some noise on power down, but it was just obnoxious.)

It was also very finicky during overclocking, and decided to just give up posting on the pentium 4 i had in it. (p4 was at stock speeds, and works fine in old motherboard.)

The board had great potential, and i would of just got it replaced, but the hard drive problems is a huge turn off for me.

OK, I was thinking bout the P5K E, same price as the DS3R. I decied to up my limits a bit and get some real cheap ram. Would the 8 phase power of the asus make that big of a difference? also whats the best DDR2 800 ram I can get?

There is jus so many great board... damn it...

WELL!

I have made my list,

GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3R,
Intel Pentium E2180 Allendale 2.0GHz,
Scythe SCASM-1000 120mm Sleeve Andy Samurai Master CPU Cooler

and finally, G.SKILL F2-6400CL5D-2GBNQ.

I am concerned about the ram tho....

I have heard good things about the P5K series. I got myself a P5KC that has both DDR2 and 3 and heat pipes. Not that expensive at all. It's somewhat future proof as it also takes 45nm CPU. Good bang for the buck IMO.
