    Hi all!

After having thrown Call of Duty 4 (PC) I see the error message:
my video card is Nvidia GeForce 5700 FX
    Even if not supported, I have played in HalfLife2 episode 2 and Portal, Painkiller Overdose ...);
It's not due to the lack of support for PS 3.0. It is because the stupid Nvidia driver doesn't have OpenGL 2.0 support. Separate Alpha Blending is an OpenGL 2 feature. If somehow it could be enabled from within the driver the game would work perfectly. I played it on a Radeon 9550 AGP 8X 256 MB, which is much inferior to 5900 XT from the processing power point of view. It has, however, the Catalyst drivers which offer native support for OpenGL 2 and thus, separate alpha blending.

    solution?
    What should I install driver?

    thanks

You could use RivaTuner to force a game to run an older version of OpenGL.

    That might work.

ermm... just get a 7600gt or similar. they're easy to acquire nowadays and very affordable :)
saves you some trouble with other games too.

    1. Download and install RivaTuner. Download page

    2. Start RivaTuner and go to OpenGL tweaks.

    3. Click the the Compatibility tab and change the OpenGL version string override to 1.5. If 1.5 doesn't help, try 1.4 or a lower one.

    Hope it works.

Start RivaTuner, click on that arrow next to Customize... and click on the OpenGL logo.

Not trying to put a dampner on your efforts fella but Call of Duty 4 uses the DirectX API and thus making any changes to the OpenGL versions would have no effect on resolving your problem. It even specifically says so in the image you posted - Getting Direct3D Interface. OpenGL was used in the original Call of Duty game but the devs switched to using DirectX (for whatever reason) in the sequels.

    Try the latest driver versions.

    Its simple.

The 5700 doesnt support alpha blending. cannot run the game.

Buy a newer card. If you cant afford a new card, get a used GeForce 6800 from eBay for $50

That's your problem. Don't expect to play games on hardware that doesn't even meet the minimum requirements.

    Are you using a laptop?

Anyways, you cannot run COD4 on a Geforce 5 series card..
