http://gameinformer.com/News/Story/2...1444.18641.htm

According to data released today by Media Create, the Nintendo DS and PSP lead sales in Japan the week ending November 11th. The Nintendo DS sold 78,854 consoles, while the new model PSP came in with 58,964. With the new 40GB PS3 model PS3 being released, as well as the PS3 price cuts and the release of the DualShock 3, the PS3 outsold both the Wii and Xbox 360. There were 55,924 PS3 sold versus 34,546 Wiis, and 5,817 Xbox 360s.

However, this is also during the same time when Shin Sangoku Musou 5
(Dynasty Warriors 6) went on sale in Japan, which the PS3 bundled Treasure Box charted at #2 selling 188,456 copies, at a retail price of 49,980 yen ($451.96) and included a ceramic white 40GB Ps3, the game, nine metal character plates, character placards, and a hardcover art book. Also on the PS3 side, outside of Shin Sangoku Musou 5, Ratchet and Clank: Future charted in at #10, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 at #19, and Hot Shots Golf 5 landed in #32 place, and NBA Live 08 at #46.

However, Mario Party DS was the big winner in Japan, taking the top slot selling 234,708 copies, Super Mario Galaxy at #3 continuing to sell well with 74,457 copies. Final Fantasy Tactics A2 for the DS landed at #4, and rounding out the top 5 software releases in Japan was the Shin Sangoku Musou 5 Treasure Box for the Xbox 360.

This isn't too surprising really. PS3 had price cuts. I couldn't say why it mattered now instead of when they made the price cuts, though.

Will it last though? Is it too little too late? Don't get me wrong I love my PS3 but I'm not blind to the sales and marketing issues that plague the system, especially outside of Japan. It will be a constant uphill struggle if the PS3 is to stamp its own brand of dominance on the market.

of course the Japanese get more games on their PS3.... they get all those strange yet fun games, those love-simulator games, those adult-simulator games, and a lot more for their PS3.

So of course it would sell more than the wii and X360 in Japan.

Thats GREAT NEWS!!! Next year mario 50000 will win !!!...

Sorry for sarcasim but I have held no interest in mario since SNES. Nintendo needs to think of something new IMO.....

Next stop.. Mario Infinity and Metroid Prime over 9000.

Ehh ill stick to my PS3!

I work for one of the flagship GAME stores in London. The Nintendo Wii would outsell the PS3 by miles if we had any Wii's in stock. We only sold about 20 PS3's last week but had at least 100 people ask for a Wii. hmmm.

Super Mario Galaxy is good and all that, but it's not beating Ocarina of Time by a long shot. Of course, Ocarina of Time isn't the best game in my book. It's up there, but it's not the best.

Say, how many of you guys have beaten the Master Quest version of it? I found that one quite a bit more difficult than the original.

It's only difficult to me because I've never done the dungeons and temples in those ways.>_> It's hard though.
