Ping app. with notifier

Hi ppl

We got a problem at work and i need your help. Our service provider has problems with his DNS server so we keep loosing our connection for a few minutes every now and then. In the mean time some ppl here need to know if the connection is alive before hand....

So I need a bit of help to find an app. that pings google every 5-10sec or so and when the connection is down and gives me some kind of popup notification and another popup when the connection is restored.
This said app has to run on both XP and MAC OSX.

try using OpenDNS

TreeWalk DNS > OpenDNS

But since he/she is using osx, open dns will be good.

Try ping plotter (windows).

I just don't see the point of Treewalk, why install a program to handle DNS queries?

OpenDNS you just put in the IP addresses of their servers, their servers filter out Phishing sites, as well as you can configure it to filter out Adult sites.

Plus, they have quite a few servers around the world all caching as much as they can to improve query times. (With still obeying TTLs and not handing out wrong queries)

Honestly, if you are having things like that drop out, you have other problems on your network, you should just figure out what's going on and fix it.

Like i said the problem is with the provider and not with us....
They even admitted it, it just takes time to fix or so they say.
