is wga GONE? from xp ,i did a clean install today of xp and no wga was on winupdates

Sounds like you're confusing WGA with WGA Notification.

WGA is the ActiveX control that gets installed the first time you go to Windows Update or try and download just about anything from MS.

WGA Notification is that annoying POS that sits is the systray and pops up telling you you are using a pirated copy Windows (if it believes so).
