Videocards - AMD - ATI Drivers Section In this section you can discuss everything Catalyst related. AMD Catalyst drivers are for all AMD ATI based graphics cards. This is also the place to discuss modified Catalyst drivers.
Im running on vista and atm useing the drivers that came on the cd. evry driver ive tryed to update to has caused blue screen crashs for some strange reason and i have currently not got catalyst installed. but these drivers seem to cop out when ever i put it under some kind of actualy hard work.
the lost planet demo cant even currently open without the "the drivers stopped responding" and the game jsut turning into a black screen it also causes CSS to crash when on good graphics and Guild wars to crash when opend sometimes. many things like CoD2 and 3Dmark06 also crash.
Well I have the same problem. I've spent hours searching for the solution. Got a lot of tips that might help
Here's a list of what I did:
- when you go to services.msc, disable ati external event utility
- install drivers without ccc
- using the old windows display
- use program like ATT to force your 3d speed
The first 3 didn't work for me but it worked for other guys. I've solved it by going back to the 7.4 drivers (without ccc) in combination with ATT. Now my games don't crash anymore. But the 7.4 drivers don't support the card. Anyway, if these things don't solve it type in google: "atikmdag stopped responding". That gives you loads of threads with people who have the same problem and a lot of possible solutions are given. I would do it for you but I'm really tired now and I need some sleep cuz I gotta work tomorrow.
memory incompatibilty or too low of voltage to the ddr2 dimms can have these effects, or too low voltage on any piece of hardware or even a setting in bios made manually thats just too aggressive.
i doubt this is a driver issue unless something became corrupted, if a clean install doesnt work, look to your hardware.
Check google and you'll see that tons of people have the same problem. It is a known driver problem. I have the problem when I'm using the 7.5 and 7.6 drivers. And the strange thing is that those are the only drivers where I can start ccc. In the other drivers I can't and they work fine (except I need to force 3d speed with ATT because the display driver always stays in 2d speed)
hmm driver problem still imo but still no luck with those solutions seems to hapen only evry few restarts for example if its working fine ,the next time i load the comp it will be doing it abit, then the next time it will be servere but a simple restart and its fine.
