Default ATI Tray Tools and laptop freezing issues - 06-28-2007, 16:52 | posts: 2

Hello,

I've just recently finally gotten fed up with CCC and have made the switch to ATI Tray Tools. Overall I love it, it does everything I need it to and is small. I am running into a few problems now on my laptop which only appear when I have ATI Tray Tools load up.

Issue #1 - In ATT itself, if I go to 'Display > Settings' my entire system hangs. I have to power it off and power it back on.

Issue #2 - If I exit ATT and try to launch it again, my entire system hangs. Same as issue #1.

Issue #3 - If I close the laptop's lid, which used to shut the screen off but leave the computer running (no standby, no hibernate), when I open it back up I have a Blue Screen of Death with an error in "ati2dvag".

None of these problems (issue #3 particularly) happen if I disable ATT to load at startup.

I'm using a Dell XPS laptop with an Intel Pentium 4 3.4 single-core processor with hyper-threading enabled. I have a Mobility Radeon 9800 Pro 256Mb with the latest Catalyst drivers from ATI's website. I used DriverHeaven's Mobility Modder to make the driver compatible with my OEM (Dell).

Thanks for any assistance you can give me. I'd love to be able to continue to use Tray Tools' great features.

Issue 1 - Do not enter to that part of ATT ATT has limited support for mobility chips.
Issue 2 - edit atitray.ini and change opt_disable_dcheck=0 to opt_disable_dcheck=1
Issue 3 - atitray.ini change opt_disable_i2c=0 to opt_disable_i2c=1 and un check any "Restore clocks before/after suspend" in General Settings.

ATI Tray Tools.

Wow, thanks for the fast response Ray. That did the trick, everything's working great now.
