So, over the past couple years I have had two WRT54G routers. They both have died... I have come to the conclusion that linksys routers just don't work like very well with comcast. I have tried power cycling the modem/router, which tends to make the internet work for an hour at most. I have also updated the firmware on the router twice, which accomplished nothing. When I reset the router it can work up to a minute at most.

I'm wondering what type of a router works best with comcast. I'm looking for something in the 50 to 100 dollar price range. I usually do a lot of gaming/downloading. Any suggestions will be helpful, thanks.

I was told by a fellow guru to not use linksys, ant to try netgear instead and this was a suggestion http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833122008

i use a dlink DI-604 with 2 computers on the lan

i have comcasts 8mbit service and ive maxxed out at 60mbit/s down and average 1.5mbit/s up

they were giving these things away about a year ago
i think i got mine for like 5 bucks at newegg
i never have to reset it and its never had a problem
i hard to learn how to setup the thing but thats the worst of it
my pings in games are almost always below 20ms

they just released a firmware update a few months ago and i consider the router to be updated fairly recently

i can game and my mom can pogo at the same time and i dont notice her on the computer at all

i bought it for the hardware firewall and to hookup two computers to the same internet

this DI-604 has done that flawlessly for like a couple years

i got mine refurbished

and if you dont need wireless.. why not?

it works with comcast without a single problem that ive ever come across

I have a 3 year old Linksys still running. I have had both comcast and wide open west service. I have also had good luck with a company called zonet. Cheap little things but they do what you want em to.
I have seen D-link and netgear do fine under both services as well. If I had a choice of consumer end routers to pick from it would be netgear. Too many horror stories from newer linksys equipment.
