Well i was reading alot about open al and eax being a no more under vista... I know there is the alchmey thing but it some times dont work right. I also noticed my card X-FI cant do true dd 5.1 using the optical out. I was looking into either installing the sound card that came with my striker extreme SupremeFX or if i should go buy the Razer Barracuda AC-1.

What card will have better sound and compatibility under VISTA 64bit any help would be good

ALchemy works. You just have to tweak it as default parameters suck... Donno where they got them... If you're looking for optical i'd go with the one on Striker or with X-Meridian...

You need to decide what is really important to you for features you would want/need on your soundcard and then decide from there. Ask questions and read reviews about card your considering buying. Of course there are a few of us around here who use more then one card.

If your planning to use Vista, don't get a Creative card, period.

Yeah I have, I can't even listen to music and play solitare at the same time without crackling and s**t. And yes, I am using the latest drivers, and the lastest YouP-pax. Everything works great in XP, so I know there is nothing wrong with the card.

Even before Vista I was starting to call my X-Fi Fatal1ty my $150 mistake.

Well i was just asking to see what card is better under vista. That use SPDIF out put and the best for 3d sound under vista.

I have the X-FI fatality u can see that in my specs and in pictures in the rig section.

So far with this youpax and the latest drivers the x-fi works like a charm i dont get any cracking noise's or anything. I just can't use SPDIF out i have to use analog out puts to my reciever i know vista doest not have EAX and everyone is shifting to openal so i just wanted to see what would be better for the needs i have.

I guess i am going to be staying with what i have it works and i dont have any problems with it right now. I just get these things in my head most of the time like i dont have the best hardware so i just go and look into spending money.....

@Dead, Oh no get get the wrong idea becasue of these couple posts Your story is more common then you know. I have seen alot of people complaining about this crackling and drop-outs issues in Vista. Maybe a Vista sound issue thread should be started.
