1.3.6 kills gpu voltage control -
03-10-2007, 03:24
With 1.2.6 I can control gpu voltage. With 1.3.6 the gpu voltage will not stay adjusted. When I apply a voltage it changes for about 0.1 seconds then changes to 1.2. It will apply in low level mode but I cannot use low level obviously.

In driver level Catalyst will apply your GPU voltage, so I can not help you in this case. It should work because it work for other people.

Yes it should work but it does not. It works with 1.2.6 so it is NOT my card. It works with CCC so it is NOT my card. I do not see the point of a beta forum if you are just going to dismiss any reports without looking into it.
Does it work for other people? Anyone else using an x1950xt and have voltage control with 1.3.6?

If anyone else will confirm that, I will try find whats wrong. And AS I SAID, Catalyst apply voltage not ATT in Driver level mode. I did nothing in that part of code since last release of ATT.
Reinstall Catalyst
Clean up system.

You don't see? Don't use beta and do not post here!
I release beta version and I tell people what to test

I have tried catalyst 6.10 7.1 and 7.2. All work with 1.2.6 or CCC. 1.3.6 does not control gpuV with any of these drivers. I am using a week old install of XP sp2. It doesn't get any fresher. As to "clean up my system" it could not be any cleaner. This is my gaming rig, I have 19 processes running there is NO background crap or extra ****.
I uninstall drivers and ATT in add/remove. I go to safe mode, run driver cleaner and a registry cleaner. Then I search and remove anything whos "company" is ATI. Reinstalling AGAIN is not gonna help.
Thanks for the program and the effort involved. That is much appreciated.

I have no idea whats wrong with your system. Sorry I can not help you.
BTW, whats about other voltages for memory?
Can you give me I2C Scan log?
Open SysInfo, double click at left side of refresh button and at the same line as this button. New tab should be opened. Switch to it and click Refresh. Then post result here.

Everything is ok with reports. I see no reason why it shouldn't work. What about trying another Catalyst versions? Because in Driver Level Catalyst set voltage, not ATT, it seems that the problem with Driver.

I have had a similar experience with beta 1006 on my 1950XT - it would not set any gpu volts (always went back to 1.2) but after a reboot it is working again - will try the latest beta when I get hold of it.

I just set up my new X1950XT with 1.3.6.1026 two days ago. GPU voltage control works just fine for me. I'm using the Cat 6.12s.
I can apply the voltages manually or add them to an overclocking profile and I have no problems.

I have the same problem with all the 1.3.6 betas i tried and even the final using driver level overclocking. It worked fine with the 1.2.6 final.
It doesn't work neither with XP32 nor with Vista x64.

Yesterday I upgraded to Cat 7.5 and the latest beta and it did work the first time.
I found out, that it only works, when ATT kills the Hotkey Poller service. If I disable the service or kill with taskkill /F /IM ati* GPU Voltage control doesn't work with ATT. Quite strange since it works with the 1.2.6 versions.

same problem here in vista64 and x1900xt, voltage control is not working, it applies the 1.4v in 3d mode for a second then it drops back to 1.2v
just stuck with CCC now since i can;t be bothered to use tray tools in its current state.
used to work perfect in xp64.

I have the same problem with my HIS X1900XT IceQ3. Memory voltage will set, but any GPU volt change will reset to 1.2 when I click "apply". This could be a bug.

Patkilla is right! If you kill Hotkey Poller service manually this will later cause the voltage not to set. If instead you let ATT kill the service, then the voltage sets just fine.
