Default ATT first Vista32 version! - 02-22-2007, 13:35 | posts: 4,942

Hi everyone.
After one day of working I'm glad to present new beta version with Vista 32bit support.
You can download last beta version from the same location as described here
http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.ph...84&postcount=1
At this moment ONLY Vista32bit supported. No support for Vista64 yet. This is because I was forced to use one .dll file from Catalyst driver and of course this .dll is 32bit and will not work under Vista64. When I will find workaround I will make support for 64bit too.
__________
Not all of functions works.
1. OSD and Auto 2d/3d detection doesn't work for Direct3D9 applications (Still working on it
2. Display rotations doesn't work
3. It seems that some of advanced 3D settings may not work under Vista. Waiting for ATI to make support for them.

__________
Post any bugs and suggestions here

Installed it on and have found some things not working.

I have a Radeon 9600xt. If i enable extended desktop through windows vista display properties the desktop extends to my tv, however if I click the extended desktop on ATT nothing happens at all.

Also if I go to theater mode in settings in display if i tick anything in there such as theater (full screen)... as soon as I click apply it goes back to standard (the top setting). This is one of the main things that I like about ATT so look forward to when u can get it fixed

Will report any more problems i get if i get them.

Ray, one question, does fan control work? This is the single most important thing for me.

Any hardware operations should work without any problems
The things which may not work is some advanced 3D settings. TV Out/Display module

That would explain why the extended desktop and overlay is not working.

For the overlay is this because ATI don't support overlay on vista yet or is it something you need to tweak a bit to fix ??

It's so nice to be able to use a good profile system again. No problems so far, thanks!

Downgrading to 32 isn't any trouble at all. Just pop in (or mount) the disc, install over the current partition, and it'll work just fine. It will put your old Windows folder, along with your User folders, in C:\windows.old. Any programs you installed will still be in Program Files (x86). After that, you can just manually copy over what you want and delete what you don't want. Easy as pie!

Oh, and another side note: one of the boot options you get with Vista (when you press F8 right before that loading bar's supposed to pop up when the computer's booting) is something along the lines of "Disable Signed Driver Checking". I wonder if that works in the X64 version?

Ok might try that, but tbh I am only in testing stages atm. So nuking my install is not such a big issue. Thanks for the tip mate!

Ray,

I can't get the setting to show my GPU temp. It works on my xp boot but not vista. It's just greyed out. I have an ATI x800xl. Thanks for getting it Vista ready.

It does. You'd have to do it every time you restart otherwise windows will kick the driver out.

It must work with your board. Check atitray.ini may be you disabled I2C control functions?

bug with the crossfire support it seems

when I opened it up for the first time, it said I was using crossfire with type: dongle/hardware

unchecked the box, clicked apply, vista restarted the adapter, then ATT says no crossfire support, close and re-open ATT and it then tells me I don't have an ATI driver installed

yet to try a reboot, will try that later and let you know what gives

You know what, that so doesn't work. I did it, rebooted, installed ATI Tool and after the reboot required after install windows had knocked the driver out. I don't know why people insist on linking to that.

By default, Vista requires digital drivers to be officially signed. >> Sometimes << you can work around this issue by turning the enforcement off. Here's how to do it.
Ray, I've got the latest ATI 7.2 catalyst install for x64 and have an x800gto OC'd with ATI Tool while driver signature enforcement was disabled. I had to get in there and do it before windows messed up ATI Tools functionality but like I said I'd rather have ATI Tray Tools. The 7.2 catalyst drivers seem to operate very nicely. Just throwing that out there.

The x1950 overclocking isn't a 100% yet it seems. Is it possible to overclock this manually instead of using overdrive? Any proven method out there yet?
