Yes, some game run smoother (3DMark give me higher scores and NFS:Carbon is smooth) but some games have bugs and some games are slow (for example Counter-Strike:Source is unplayable)

I agree but we seem to be missing the OP. Maybe we should suggest to the mods a new thread where someone will take care of such a list.

Battle for Middle Earth 2 - The Rise of the Witch King - Windows Vista x64 - games constantly going 'out of synch'

Only when people play me, 99.9% sure it's my Vista / Nvidia drivers

I assume most people here that say "games run smoother" or "flawless" they are using the 32bit version of vista. I get CTD's on every map change on BF2142 and massive FPS fluctuations on R6: Vegas.

Well, for me nothing seems to work using a 7950GX2. The games will run, but performance will be very much degraded, about 1/2 of usual. I need an Vista SLI Driver!

Hi all,

Farcry is in just two colors, the resolution is good, all settings are good buet Farcry launches in just black and white. I suspect a problem with the 100.59 driver and Farcry since all other games I have seem allright.
Does anyone else experience this?

Patrick

Rename or delete the MOVIES folder from your installation dir and everything will be fine (well, except that you'll be missing the movies, but at least the game will work )

FYI

I am running the latest official drivers for Vista from Nvidia. COH and RVS:Vegas ran LIKE TOTAL CRAP at first. Then I ran them both as Administrator, run smooth as butter! Actually higher FPS than XP. Try that first!

Running Vista RC1

GTA3, GTA:VC & GTA:SA all run beautifully. GTA:VC running in 1280x1024x32bit colour - best results for that game I've ever found. Play is smooth as butter!

Medal of Honour Pacific Assault (which I cannot get to work on XP at all - the soliders fall through the ground in the firing range section of training) works with some tweaking to the game display settings.

James Bond Nightfire won't install in any mode.

Have yet to try anything else - I'm too busy shooting things.

Values in left of area gathered from the output of lspci on Fedora Core 6.

Oh god this thread is going to degrade into
something with peoples reports of themselves having probs. Not about what works & what doesn't from those that are on top of the situation & want to share their probs with Vista.
COD 2 - 32-bit Ulitmate OK
GTA SA-32-bit Ultimate OK
Far Cry-32-bit Ultimate Ok until I turn on HDR I loose the sky it goes black
Project 64 v1.6-32-bit Ultimate OK.

A funny thing that I noticed was that my Vista setup seemed faster that my XP setup. This was probably down to Vista being more efficient than XP. My XP setup had an overclocked XFX 6800 clocks on our left... & Vista as we know wont let us over clock the VGA cards. So it's mad that Vista seems to give the same performance with a stck clocked card as an overclocked card in XP... how wierd..... I'm looking into it.

Vista isn't that bad........ surprising that the drivers are though.

I wish I have another 1gb ddr2 stick. Want to play Battlefield 2142 on my Vista but sadly I have to switch my hard drive to my XP to play the game. Before the new release pack for Battlefield 2142: Northern Strike comes out, I will soon get another 1gb DDR stick to my on my Vista x86.

If you don't have 2gb stick of memory, some games and other programs will slow down like for example, running 2 different media player and computer, the computer start to slow down. Vista is using so much memory for all those programs, it can't handle it without more memory.

Right now, I have 66% of ram used just by going on the forum and download some stuff online. If running a game that have high quality, not like Counter Strike: Source, it will kill your ram.

Battlefield 2142: Frame rate slow down, needed more memory around 2gb +
Counter Strike: Source: Run fine like XP, no problems.

Vista32 + XFX 7600GS:

FEAR: Jerky framerate, runs at around 50FPS at best.

Double Agent (demo): Runs ok. I actually had to roll back to 100.54s because the .59s would have driver corruption while loading DA. =/

BF2142 (demo): Runs ok. A little jerky, but nowhere near as bad as FEAR. Around 50FPS on this also.

I think I'm going to reinstall the 100.59s clean, again.
