Question Bad 3Dmark06 scores - 01-25-2007, 09:44 | posts: 26 | Location: bakersfield

Here's my setup

Core 2 duo e6300 @2.67ghz
Asus P5n-E SLi
2x 1gigs stick PNY ddr6400
2x PNY 7900gs in sli
Antec NeoHE 550w

With 1 card i was getting around 4200 on 3dmark06 I put in a second 7900 and only get around the same and once it ran and got less @ 3500ish. This is with a fresh install of WinXP and nothing but drivers/3d06.

I'm a noob when it comes to setting up Sli so I dont know what rendering setting and stuff like to set to get best performance. Any ideas or suggestions will be appreciated

hmm...looks like sli aint kicking in.what drivers? and did you set your nv control panel to use sli?run o5 too, run just first three o5 tests and than hit esc,to make it faster to see results.lesser score sounds like its carrying other card and not in sli.did you get the sli compatable pop up when you put second card in?

try 93.71 drivers and nothing in 8x.xx series

Hmmm I might have found the problem I bought 2 at the same time but once I got to looking at them closer there not the same.

They both have a very Diff PCB layout but both register as 7900gs

maybe they got differnet bios, and if they do does that effect SLi?

It could be that they aren't the same, and the motherboard we use P5N-E SLI when SLI mode it goes to 8x 8x, not sure if that's the problem, but have you switched the asus card on the board itself to dual video cards?

Yea their identical cards on the box and in windows but its like im not getting SLI performance that I paid for. I've done everything your supposed to do to enable SLI windows detects it. NV panel detects it. But its not like its doing anything. One more thing 3dmark only shows 1 Card does it shoe 2 if their in SLI?

No it won't say there's 2, but um hm, in the Nvidia Control Panel hit, "Set SLI Configuration." Unless you already did that I'm not sure.

If I was in your shoes I'd simply call up the people I ordered em from and tell them I ordered two of the same things, not different ones. (even if they are the same thing they sure don't look like it :o)

I have the same problem although I can't even get the sli option to show up on the NVIDIA control panel. In Windows Device manager both cards show up as installed and working. Any thoughts?

Have you activated SLI in the BIOS?

I just updated my NVidia drivers to the lastest ones and rebooted. Then the item showed up in the control panel and I activated SLI. It is working great now. Thanks.

but i'm amazed....
what's the explaination for the fact that the boxes are identical but the cards not... are we talking about counterfitting here?? fakes?? copies?? did that 'kick in' with computer components ??
