On some players, the manual says you can`t play VCD`s on it, but then it does so. Has this occured to you, that your player actually plays formats it wasn`t supposed to handle?<br>
<br> I bought a Marantz DV-4200. It plays mp3 and cd-r/rw, but supposedly not vcd`s (I haven`t checked yet). |

It probably depends on the version of firmware in the player. These are updated regularly, a lot more often than the manuals.<br>

Firmware was probably updated...always update your firmware before using the drive...DVD or CDRW capable...doesn't matter which drive you have...if your having compatibility problems than try updating the firmware...

Some players say they play vcd but if it doesn't play CD-r's then only OEM vcd's work. I have a Sharp DVD player that will play VCD but only if they are OEM .
