Default 7950GT and Rivatuner - 11-24-2006, 21:39 | posts: 2

Hi all,

I'm sorry if this issue has already been beaten to death; I checked the stickys and a few pages of messages but found nothing related to the issues I'm having with my card.

I understand that the 7800GT and 7900GT did not have a fan control unit and thus were not supported by the Rivatuner as what comes to controlling the fan. Now, I just got myself a 7950GT and from some reviews I've gathered that this card indeed should have a fan control unit, but I still can't get my fan speed down using Rivatuner.

Is there something wrong with my settings or is this something that is at the moment missing from Rivatuner? I'm getting nuts listening this whining from the fan in 2d-mode...

Read context help PLEASE!!!! I've repeated the following hellish amount of times!!!

To get separate 2D/3D fan conrtol working in RT

1) You must have a display adapter with fan connected to PCB's integrated PWM fan controller (external I2C fan controllers are NOT SUPPORTED by the ForceWare)
2) PWM fan controller must be properly enabled in BIOS
3) ForceWare drivers must support setting independent 2D/3D fan speeds for this card

That's pretty stupid to talk about RT supporting or NOT supporting fan contol. It is the driver's own feature! And it works only if the items mentioned above are TRUE!

I sort of knew that my question would be stupid and I thank you for your answer. I'm still having hard time getting the fan control to work, but I sure will not bother you about it anymore.
