Hello Ray and Folks,

The reason I'd like to use this utility is to set my overclocks in the BIOS so they take effect on startup and don't have to be read from the registry etc.

I downloaded and did a full install of the V1.0 RC, but when I try to look at the help file, it's apparently in a different language (Russian maybe?). As noted elsewhere, 3dgames.ru is dead as well. Is there any source of information as to what the values in the memory clock table mean and the actual procedure to be used to update and flash one's BIOS?

Looks like a nice util, but I don't know how to use it. Help please!

First of all, you could cut and paste the russian text into the translate feature of http://www.altavista.com/ and read what is written.

As for setting the clock speeds, if you have a DDR card then set the clock speeds for the right hand DDR values to the speed you want. Do the reverse for an SDR memory card.

Let us know what type of nVidia card you have so we can give more specific info. Preferrable not to tell us it's a V7700 since that means nothing to me. Is it a Geforce 2 or 3, MX, GTS, Pro, ULTRA, Ti200, Ti, Ti500 or what??

Hi Lunchbox, and thanks for the reply.

That's a good suggestion about using the translator for the help file, but Windows won't even open it since I'd need to have support for the specific language installed, and I don't even know which langugage it is. It just gives an error message.

My card is a Hercules 64 MB Geforce2 Ultra.

quote:
As for setting the clock speeds, if you have a DDR card then set the clock speeds for the right hand DDR values to the speed you want. Do the reverse for an SDR memory card.

I believe my card (from poking around Hercules' website) has DDR RAM. On the right hand side of the initialization tab are listed under GPU all 200's and one 250. Under Memory, all are 166 except the 250 (under GPU), which is 230.

The Hercules web site lists the default core clock speed as 250, and the mem clock as 460.

I'm guessing that the value listed as 250 under GPU is the core, and under memory as 230 (x2=460) is the mem clock speed?

If that is so:

1) Does the left hand side of the initialization tab (SDRAM) not have any meaning for my card and can just be ignored?

2) Are the other lines apart from the 250 and 230 line on the right hand side (DDR SDRAM) also meaningless?

3) I have tested the mem clock speed safely to 500 with the Geforce Tweak Util. Would setting this in the BIOS be simply a matter of adjusting the current 230 value to 250?

I'm assuming the correct concept is that one saves a copy of one's existing BIOS to a file, uses the editor to change the appropriate values in it, then saves it again and flashes it to the card. Can you give a brief step-by-step on how this is performed? Is it similar to flashing a motherboard BIOS where one uses a DOS boot disk and some specific program to flash the BIOS? What is this program and where can it be obtained?

Sorry for the long message and thanks very much for any help!
