Question Which Drivers are best.. - 11-14-2006, 16:45 | posts: 15

I recently bought x800xt AGP card for my system.....as i was looking for updated drivers, i found so many different types of drivers for this Card..

So i want to know which, is the best out of these...To me performance is more important than IQ as my rest of system is kinda old (Athlon XP)..

1. Standard ATi Catalyst Drivers
2. DHpoint modified Drivers
3. Omega Radeon Drivers
4. NGO Optimized : The ultra mode in these..does it really work, as i have 256MB Card..

I would have tried it myself, but my internet Bandwidth is kinda limited and costly

It's all a matter of opinion really. Some dislike the graphics settings with customized drivers (to enhance speed) ,which ofcourse you can adjust again.
And some find there is no speed increase on their system at all.I guess if it works and performs as it should ,one likes to stay with that.
I prefer the officials also.

I have a Saphire X1650pro AGP and only 1 of the WQL drivers work for me (Can't remember which). I can't stand the CCC so I use Omega 38273 drivers. They work so I'm happy. ATM I have a pretty descent OC going on 695/796 (1593) with a Zalman 900VF-cu.

I don't like CCC much either but it dosen't affect me much either, the tray tools are good enough...
Well has any1 any experience with The ultra mode in NGO Optimized Drivers...does it really optimize memory usage to give performance boost it promises ??

I find the standard drivers to be the most reliable.

I use omega i mean comeon the old softmods and all that stuff that was included used to be my gold standard with my old cards. Also I believe they have everything the officials have just with some nice tweaks.

I've read compared benchmarks for all of the modded and official catalysts, and the only one to provide a better 3dmark score than the official was the Warcat driver. Most of the modded drivers just give more options and better image quality.
