PC Gaming on a 1080p LCD, worth it or not? -

Sorry if this question has been asked before, but I would like feedback from those of you who are currently PC gaming on a high resolution 1080p (1920x1080) LCD HDTV.
I'm starting to see response times of 8ms and a Samsung model that even has a gaming mode. I'm a little hesitant to buy because I have read some posts that talk about not being able to display 32 bit color and not being able to enable SLI if using NVIDIA video cards. What are the limitations, if any, of 1080p LCD HDTV's when connected via DVI to HDMI cable to let's say a Geforce 7950 GX2?
Other questions that I have are:
how does text from let's say a Word doc. look?
how do web pages with images or flash content look?
how do the games look?
Basically, is there any degredation in image quality?
I don't really care about how an Xbox 360 looks....like I said, this is for PC gaming. Thanks for you help.

Keep in mind I can't run at 1080p, but I will tell you my experience with 1080i or 720p
I have a Sharp 27" LCD hooked up to my computer, and I hate it for PC gaming mostly due to the fact that most games that I've seen have really crummy support for custom resolutions. I've found that reading text is actually really tough to do, and it ends up straining the eyes like a bitch when you try to do it for any extended period of time. It works AWESOME for watching movies/TV in HD, but for games I just gave up.
The Xbox360, however, looks and works so much better. (I know, you didn't ask about that, but, I GREATLY prefer the 360 to the computer in 720p, possibly since the devs are making the games FOR the TV)

Yeah, I've heard it's not great on 1080i or 720p. Right now I have a 24" Widescreen LCD that runs at 1920x1200. I'm guessing since 1080p HDTV's run at 1920x1080 that the picture quality should be somewhat similar.
What I don't like is that the "PC input" on modern HDTV's is an analog input. Almost all the high-end video cards out there have two standard digital DVI connectors. So now we have to go out and buy a DVI to HDMI cable and hope it works. They should just make the PC input a DVI input on all LCD HDTV's.

I have a 27" widescreen LCD, and think its fantastic.
It has a low(ish) resolution of 1280x768, but still great in all the games i play (fear, graw, nfsmw, gtr, quake4, cod2, flatout2, bf2 etc).
As you said, some games dont allow for widescreen, but most have patches that do allow them to use it.

i got my 360 running in 1080p mode with the new update.
even tho there is alot of upscaling and downscaling going on it still seems to look alot better then 720p on my native 1680x1050 lcd.

I haven't seen any 1080p (1920x1080) smaller sized LCD's. I'm talking about the 26 inch range suitable for a bedroom. Most 26 inch LCD's are running at 1366x768 resolution. Does anyone know why this is? Is there a limitation to cramming a resolution of 1920x1080 into a 26" HDTV LCD?
I know that widescreen PC LCD's like the Dell 2405FPW run at 1920X1200 and that's in a 24" size. I'm curious as to why home HDTV's in the smaller sizes aren't running at 1080p resolutions....will they ever?
