are they both dual core? show us links to both configs and we can help you there. Core Duo is faster than the Turion's I believe. I have Core Duo and I quite like it. Wish I could overclock it a bit on my laptop though

A Core Duo, or ideally a Core 2 Duo configuration would offer the best performance. The dv2000 series comes with rather lackluster graphics options. You may want to consider the Inspiron E1505 which should fall into the same price range, and currently has a coupon code available.

dont do dell. but do do AMD
I know it's true of the past, but AMD mobile's run cooler than intel... not sure how newer CPU's are... as for dell... they just suck. I've had more than enough problems with them...

amd's turion runs far cooler than the core 2 duo with reasonable speed. its just a little slower than an athlon x2 of the same speed i think. core duo is next most powerful, but will run hotter and last a little shorter on battery. then core 2 duo. fastest, hottest, least battery life. but the intels are noticeably faster.
Here's my look on it: if you want...
...mobility. go with amd. lasts longer less heat.
...speed and power. go wth intel.
and if youre just gonna have it sittin at a desk plugged in all the time go with a core 2 duo.

It depends what you'll be doing with it.
For gaming notebook, I'd go with the core duo, for just a good laptop that'll run your apps at a good pace, I'd say AMD.

This information is incorrect. Core 2 Duo processors have superior battery life to Core Duo processors which have superior battery life to Turion 64 processors. They also run cooler.

You have made the right choice. The Core Duo 2 eats up the AMD Turion.

I have a Core Duo laptop and i can tell you that this thing is faster than my current CPU in my desktop. (at least on superPi that is).
Core 2 Duo will be good choice for you also pair it with a GF like a 7600Go or a Mobillity X1600 and you wont regret it.

i'm not so sure I agree with that statement. Besides, isnt the Core 2 Duo a substantially highter cost than its Turion X2 counterpart?
