I just bought one today... it oughta be here in under a week

Here's the problem: It doesn't go fast enough
Or to be more clear... I know that whatever performance level it has coming out of the box, be that "615fps and shootin' blue flames out of my exhaust ports..." It can probably do better; that's just the way I feel.

And that's the way it's been since I realized things can be tweaked (in my post original pci-slot-graphics-card-days), from my first TNT2 Vanta, through the GeForce2GTS, the 3Ti450, an original Geforce 3 (still hanging on my wall), the iterations of the "4-series", a bios-modded 5900XT with an aftermarket 3-fan heatpipe cooler, the non-GT 6600 (ugh!~), a preoperative Vanilla 6800, to today's end-of-an-era purchase of a 7800GS.

It's the never-ending search for added peformance out of not-quite-state-of-the-art, figuring that 'someone' will find 'something' to make it be more than it really is.

//INSERT small homage to Tudor the Turtle

    OK...ok... I do have a question here,
    and it would be:

IF "the 7800 GS is simply a G70 core with disabled vertex and pixel units"

Is anyone lookin' into enabling those?
Ya see... I think it might just turn those Blue Flames WHITE.

    ummm... Thanks.

The extra pipelines and vertex shaders have been lazered off IIRC
