Default Headset Recommendation - 10-13-2006, 18:00 | posts: 484 | Location: Gothenburg, Sweden

Hiho,

I've been using a Logitech headset since i got BF2 when it came out (Commanders Edition).
Anyways, now the right "speaker" (Not sure what to call it, please correct me) has broken and i really don't wanna use a headset that has sound from only one direction

So, i'm asking here for some recommendations on cheap ( But still good ) headsets. I suppose the price may be in the middleclass, not too expensive but still not some cheap-plastic-crap. I want to have good quality sound since i will use the headset for gaming practically all the time( I go to LAN's often aswell ).

Kinda hard to say how much it can cost in $USD since i have noticed that stuff in USA are incredibly CHEAP compared to the Swedish currency hehe, but maybe around 20-60USD or something.

Thanks,
Enozekun

PS: I will aquire a new soundcard in time aswell, using my built-in AC'97 because my PCIsoundcard is crapilicous ( AudigySE )

Sennheisers (Bad spelling) are well regarded around here. Though I am not sure which model I use speakers. Have you given any thought as to what soundcard your gonna get? IF I may if your really into gamiing with headphones there are a couple soundcards that are supposed to have GREAT headphone routines and make games on headphones sound superb.

Well, i'm not gonna buy some expensive X-FI stuff or something. More like Audigy 4 , not too expensive.

Audigy 4's are a great deal right now so are the Audigy 2's and the Audigy 2 values. Hope that helps.

Okay, thanks alot. Will look into the Audigy's some more when i've gotten my headset.

Anyone else have some recommendations on headsets?
Three of my friends have a headset called Koss SB45, it's cheap but they say it has got very good sound quality etc. I'm not sure since i haven't tried 'em.

Hmm... it would be sweet if it were possible to try out headsets before buying them, i really wanna know how they sound before i get them.

As it looks like now i'm going for the Sennheiser PC150 headset. Seems like a nice headset for a fair price.

I've got the Terratec Mystify gaming headset, which is just a rebranded Sennheiser 130. It has a nice balanced sound, and is good for listening to music as well.

The Creative X-fi can do surround sound using normal stereo headphones. Its called CMSS-3D Headphone, and is awesome when playing BF2

Yeah the Headphone technoogy on the X-fi is supposed to be based on the MIT HRTF related research. I would love to compare CMSS-3D to Dolby Headphone technology. ANother great headphone technology.

Yeah when you get a good soundcard you will notice alot better sound qaulity. it will sound more natural and less harsh and cold.
