Default My P4 Overclock - 07-14-2006, 12:05 | posts: 4,070 | Location: New Zealand

I have slowly over the past 7 days overclocked my P4 3.0ghz s478
from 3.0ghz to 3.28ghz and it's stable. It's running at about 43C Idle and 64C load.

Not much of an acheivement but I want to get it to 3.4ghz - stable. I haven't had to up the voltage yet. As soon as a get an error in Stress Prime should I up the voltage and by how much %.

Thanks,

Jeremy

When you get an error only up the voltage by the smallest increment until you get it stable. Those temps seem a little bit high for only being at 3.28 ghz though. My prescott is at 4.01ghz from 3.4 and its idle 44 load 65, and thats with 1.5 volts going through the sucker, and no its not water cooling. If you're using the stock cooler, I wouldnt go farther till you get an aftermarket cooler such as the Thermaltake Big Typhoon, xp-90c, Vapochill Micro, or Zalman 9500.

Hope this helps.

Im not using stock cooler. Im using a Zalman 7700ACU. It's weird though. Those temps were exactly the same when it ran at 3.0ghz. My side fan isn't on though so I might activate it.

P4 2.8C at 3.5GHz stock votage and Prime95 stable for the most part. It would do 3.8GHz but it was not completely stable. Your 3.0 should get at least to there.
