I realize they must the same card, but do they have to be completely identical? I.E. can I SLI a 7300GT 128ddr2 with a 7300GT 256ddr3?

Or would that even be worth it? Needless to say my 7300GT 128ddr2 isn't living up to expectations, and I'm debating on whether or not to try SLI with another one or just trash it and go for a better card.

Its not going to work all that great.. pretty much cause the larger card to "underclock" your best bet I would say would be to sell the 7300 and add a little to it to get a 7900GTX that should do you for a while... you pretty much need the same card same bios also on each card for SLI to be of any advantage and not bottleneck itself.

I dont think going from a 7300 to a 7900GTX is quite reasonable, or in budget for someone who just bought a 7300. I would say try and get a 7600GT, great card for the money.

I agree^^^ a 7600GT will do him nicely. And 1 7600GT will give you better performance than SLI 7300GT's in your case, because as was stated, the faster card will have to deactivate half it's memory and down clock significantly to match the other one you have Or you can just spend a bit more and get a 7900GT

Well, to answer the first part

as long as they are both 7300GT, but the faster one will have to downclock/match the memory of the slower one

still better than 1 7300GT

but at the price you will be paying for 2 of them, its not worth it.

Here are 7600GTs, and one of these is better than SLi 7300GT

Whats the comparison to the 7600GT compared to a 7800GT? People seem to always think about 7600 and 7900 since they just came out but rmemeber there still is a 7800series of nividia cards that have been out for awile and might not be that expensive anymore.
