Default Limited Number of 6 series GPU's? - 04-17-2006, 16:11 | posts: 65 | Location: Seattle WA

The new drivers on the nvidia site claim they only work with some 6 series of GPU's and there's no list of which one's it does support. I don't wan't to f@#k my system up and I'm at 81.98 which need updating. Has anyone with a 6200 used the new drivers? I don't get it there now forgeting about the older cards and making new drivers ONLY for newer cards? Shame on them if that's the case.

Also what drivers would increase my FPS? Any out there that are also safe to use with the 6200???????

Dont worry they should work, just download them straight from here, all most all of the forceware drivers here have modified ini files to support all modern gpu's. You wont F#ck up anything, because if it doesnt support the card for what ever reason, it will tell you that durring the installation process and it will automaticly abort. Go with the newest ones or try the moded 84.22's, they perform better on my rig (and yes i use a 6 series gpu)

The "incompatability" lies in the lack of entries in the INF file that NVIDIA includes.

You can use pretty much any Forceware release you would like with no ill effects, just replace the included nv4_disp.inf file with one from LaptopVideo2Go.

I'm running onboard video (6150) while I wait for my RMA and the newest beta drivers from nzone and they reconize mine so they should work on the 6200 without a modified ini. Just download the driver, extract and look through the ini in notepad and see if your card is listed, if not then just grab a modified ini.

Actully after testing the driver further I noticed a little graphics curropton in some games like GTA san andreas, nothing big but still the 81.98 drivers diden't have this. I'm now going to try the 84.21 and see if that clears it up.
