i was thinking since i have my soundcard over a year now, and my question is this, was i missing the EAX sound all this time when i had CMSS on or was i really had it off when i had CMSS 3d Mode on all this time.

i just want to know like that i can enjoy my EAX sound in 5.1 mode.

AFAIK CMSS just creates fake channels when you output stereo sound. If you output Dolby Digital sound, CMSS has no effect. EAX should still be in effect either way.

Though CMSS on Audigy 2 isn't that good (good thing the made it proper way on X-Fi acrds though). EAX effects should still remain, same applies to 3D surround if game delivers one (for example if game outputs 5.1 sound, Audigy 2 won't try to upmix it since it already gets 5.1 sound. In case it gets normal stereo it will upmix it (usually this happens in video sequences in games).

I didn't like CMSS in SB Live! and Audigy series cards, but I enjoy it with X-Fi.

However I listen to "Stereo Surround" set at 55% for most of the time as I don't like much all those silent revererated sound comming from behind.

As far as I know when a game uses EAX it turns everything else off, so your other settings don't interfere with the EAX..AFAIK....hope that helps. Try both and see if you hear a difference you shouldn't.
