Default Winrar password recovery - 03-28-2006, 02:54 | posts: 3,002 | Location: There.... Right there i tell ya...

Hey guys, i got a winrar archive which is password protected and i don't have the password :/

I remember at some point i had a similar problem and i used a program that just revealed the password, now all i find are brute force and dictionary attack software, that just take too long and most of them are useless due to the demo limitations, unless u pay for them and since i don't have much use for such a program, other than this particular case, i don't see why i should buy one....

So any ideas on how to get the password ? I know it's stored somewhere within the archive so brute force crackers seem kind of redundant to me...

Thanx in advance
John

not freeware, but I think will be enough to get the passowrd for one single rar file.

Also, sometimes finding the password may take long times. Allow the program torun as long as you can.

Nope that didn't do it either :/
First of all the program's demo version is limited to 3 char password length and it doesn't support multivolume archives...

www.Lostpassword.com has a great tool for recovering rar passwords. Also, there are services out there that recover your password for a free. I used www.Alpinesnow.com to have them recover a .zip file password some years ago for less than I would have paid for actual software to do it.
