Where To Buy a Mozart ?? -

Great story on the Mozart vc4001 sns and I'm ready to get one, but where? Found plenty of places that carry the 4000 but noone seems to have the 4001. While I'm at it, I have a rig that I built in Jan. of '05 as the doner and maybe you guys could give me some pointers and advice on what else I need to get. This is my first media center and I could use some help.
Doner Rig:
ASUS A8V-Deluxe
EVGA 6800GT (256-a8-n349-ax)
3500+ Winchester
Corsair ValueSelect 512MB x 2
Seagate 160GB x 2 SATA's
Thermaltake 480w PurePower
XP Home
Thanks in advance. JDZ

Hmmmm... so it seems the only way to add a Media Lab to the Mozart (or the Bach) is to buy a Media Lab and use the only exposed drive bay?? I have checked everywhere and can't find any further info as to weather you can remove the drive bay bezel and mount the guts in the case itself. ThermalTake wont comment either. Any thoughts or advice ?? Seems the only place to buy a complete VB 8001sns or a VC 4001sns in the world is Germany or (I think) the Czech Republic. What gives ? JDZ

You can mount it in just like it's shown in our article. Ehm, there's a guide somewhere in the Thermaltake site on how to do it. Check it out.
And I had a look .. yeah weird the version with VFD is not on sale everywhere.

Strange you got no response from Thermaltake. I emailed them several times and got a response within hours. The funny thing is I asked them exactly what you are asking here. Yes, the 5.25 "cover" can be removed from the vfd so that the vfd will fit perfectly in the cutout on the Mozart. If you would like the guide Thermaltake sent me describing how to do this, let me know. You can find the vfd kit at Page Computer (mentioned in the article), too.
Hilbert, can you please clarify exactly what you bought in the Mozart article? First you state you used the VC4000SNS and added on the vfd media kit, getting both for $130. The case alone is $90 plus shipping and the vfd kit is another $90 if both are purchased from page computer. Then you state you were using the VC4001SNS where the vfd kit is already included. I'm hoping you used the first option as $130 for both is great! If this is considering hijacking, my apologies. I will create another thread if that's the case. My gratitude as well for the great article. It spawned another buyer

Let me say thanks for the feedback. I downloaded the "assembly instructions" from ThermalTake and it does not give specific info on installing the Media Center but does state that it can be done and there appears to be only a minimum amount of work. Second (and I'm sorry about not updating) I did receive a reply from ThermalTake (just took a bit longer than normal. I have two Tsunami's and a PSU and have written them before) and although they said it can be done they offered no specific instructions. This project looks like a go in the near future and should come in at a very small cost. Any comments on the doner rig I originaly posted ?? Any thoughts on what else I will need ? As always Thanks JDZ

Hi, I just finished builiding a Mozart HTPC for a client. I had the same problem as you are now, in trying to find the 4001 in the US. I bought the 4000 model and the seperate media lab kit, both from directron.com.
To answer your question about the media lab; you remove the LCD panel from the media lab kit (5 1/4" bay-piece), 4 screws, then install the LCD readout/remote sensor in the provided Mozart LCD window built in to the case, you have to remove the Mozart's front panel, the hardest part is routing wires.
The Graphic EQ Mode works great with iTunes. I read a review where the reviewer had trouble with the EQ not working. It works well with NForce 4 on board audio.
The remote works pretty well also, even better if you are running an IR booster.
The remote programming is really good, excellent for the price.
The software interface for the media center is so-so, it works.
I highly recommend this case and media lab kit.
