Default new sony lcd monitor for gaming? - 02-10-2006, 17:09 | posts: 186 | Location: New York

hey,

was looking at getting this LCD monitor (23" PremierPro™ Widescreen LCD DisplaySDM-P234/B) for gaming. just curious if anyone out there has one and could give me some feedback.

it's replacing my Sony CRT 21" E540:

i see that the response time is 16ms. you think i will notice ghosting?

i'll be ordering from www.sonystyle.com. if you notice anything better that can handle that latest FPS (fear, bf2, cod2), lemme know. i'd like to keep the size to around 23" - 30". i wonder how the hdtvs would handle pc games.

i'd be curious to know others opinions.

thanx in advance.

23 inches is way too small to see noticable ghosting on a modern LCD. The native resolution is 1920x1200, which is great, but it doesn't appear to support HDCP compliance, so this LCD could never be used to display HDTV from modern devices that use the HDCP protection. I vote no.

If all you want to do is play games, then it works just fine, but you are really liimiting your future options if you buy an HDTV without HDCP compliance.
