Laptops & Notebooks They’re completely portable, and they use less power and make less noise than desktop models. But what if you have questions ?

Sager 5720 (any good?) -

Im in the market for a decent gaming laptop, something that will be able to run the latest games, but not as expensive as an alienware. After looking around a bit, I found the sager 5720, which has a 7800 GTX Go. (enough power, Im assuming) Im not a 'heavy' gamer, but when I do play, I like to run with the most detail possible.
However Im not sure what options to equip it with.

Directly from sager^
17" screen 1680 x 1050 (upgrade to 1900x1200?)
Pentium-M 760 2.0ghz (save money and get 1.73 or 1.86?)
Go 7800 GTX 256mb
2GB DDR2 at 533mhz (Save money and get 1gb?)
80gb SATA 5400rpm HDD (upgrade for more space/rpm?)
8X DVD +/-RW DL (save money and get just a DVD/CDRW drive?)
XP Pro
1yr warranty
Carrying bag
Users Manual
AC Adapter
Price: $2,434.00
Worth it?
One further question, would I be able to run vista on this computer? I know the 7800GTX is DX9, and Vista will use DX10, but will this make much of a difference? Or, should I just wait till the mobile DX10 cards come out?

For me this laptop was very attractive due to the PM powerful yet low powered, and the 7800 GTX again powerfull and slightly less power and cooler then a mobile 6800 variant. i beelave it should run 400 / 1200 with full 24 pipes.
its a very good combination of parts should make any gamer happy while giving possible a good battery performace in lite use.
The 1.86 should be the happy minimum, 2GB ram is a very good idea, in a game like fear the ram is the limiter for high detail.
Vodaphone are giving away GPRS cards with intel laptops so check you get that free, its means you could possibly game on the go though price will kill that idea at £2 a megabyte.
The screen is a hard upgrade but if yuor budget concious and not doing graphic design you shouldnt be unhappy with the default.
Hard drive is upgradable so get what you can afford and think you will actually use 80G should be good, i dont think the chasis does two hard drives.
I doubt the Dual layer is much more and could be usefull.
I never had the money so i am going to be waiting outside to mug you

There is also the Sager NP 9750. It's a bit chunky comparing to the 5720, but it's got a AMD Dual core 64 X2 or a single core 64. There is also the NP9890, which is a intel version of that.
Myself, I have the NP9890, wonderful laptop Even if you do get the 5720, you'll find it's a great machine.
