I'm sure it's not your processor. It's very likely something with your video card. Or, a conflict between your video card and motherboard settings. Try different GeForce drivers. If you're using 12.xx or 11.xx, try lower driver releases.
Also, lots of people have reported problems with GeForce cards and the VIA chipset. check the posts.

You should post your GeForce driver version.
check your bios, set the agp to 2x if it isn't already. Make sure your ram settings are as they should be etc.

Bugsy, I've tried that already, I'll be honest with ya, ive formatted, tried it in 98,98se,&me, changed every bios setting i can think of,tried every vidio setting in the world, and tried it with and without sound, tried it with a pci voodoo3 2000. bought a 300w ps,bought a super orb, a case that will take an intake and exhaust fan and i guess everything else but punt, thats why i was thinking it could be the cpu or the mobo cause ive tried everything else that i could think of
If the problem persists like that through different os' it definitly hardware. No irq conflicts I assume etc. etc. Sounds like hardware to me.

I dunno.. to me it sounds like a heat problem.. I mean, if you can play games for 10-15 minutes before a lockup then things must be working properly, no?

I wonder if your chip has a flaw that lets go at higher temps... I'd see if I could borrow another CPU and plug it in, as Bugsy sez...

Whats the matter with your computer? at least 12C jump when playing games. Most people here don't even get a 12F jump let alone C. Get a better heatsink brother. Oh yeah, and make sure the fans are turning!

It sounds like a hardware related problem. Have you tried taking out all your cards besides your Graphics card. It could be a defectives soundcard. If that doesnt work, try taking your CPU into the local computer shop. They should be able to test it, and if that checks out, its probably your MOBO.

If you don't have any luck with the other chip, try taking off the side of the case and set up a fan in fron of it. After doing that this weekend i'm blow holeing my system this week.
Where are you getting your temp readings from?
