Well, I spent most of the weekend trying to work out the bootup problem (Windows .... Configmg, Protection... error, Please reboot your computer) with no results. I actually got replies from Microsoft and MSI. Did all things they wanted me to do and it still is doing it. Its most definetly a hardware check issue on the motherboard and NOT to do with memory modules, video cards or anything else. Unless, MSI does make up a customized Bios for me, which I highly doubt and who knows how long that could take, I'm stuck with the problem and this board.

So, I'm going to throw some bucks out there and invest in a new motherboard. Would like some
input as to motherboard choices for a "AMD Athlon 950 Slot A". Presently the board I'm using
is MSI-6195 (K7-Pro) with the AMI 750 chipset. I my opinion, a very bad choice by AMD.

One question I have, if I go with a mb that has VIA Chipset, what is the best version?

BPK

BTW: This is the same post I've put up in "Hardware" Just trying to get as many opinions as possible while I search around for that mobo.

ABIT KT7A or IWill KK266... Both support the comming Palomino processor too so you won´t have to get a new one if you want to upgrade in the future... Very nice...

I have a giga-Byte, but its socket. They made the GA-7IXE. Don't know if they still do. I have heard nothing but good about giga-byte mainboards.

Hammer , the ASUS A7A 266 is SOCKET A, he's looking for a Slot A.

Anyways, here's what looks like a good SLOT A mainboard for what you need. It uses a K7V chipset.

Check out this link for the specs........
I was using the Abit KA7 motherboard with my Athlon 600 classic. It is a very stable board.
