We need the rest of your system specs ! But it sounds like the same old Via /xp/ soundblaster problems . It's not the speakers it's the sound card and probably the via data corruption problem . Supposedly D/Ling the Via 4 in 1 drivers will fix this problem .http://www.viahardware.com/686bfaq.shtm#_Toc518065962
The first is a site talking about this problem and the second link is to Via's drivers . They also have the 4 in 1's at the guru home page . Good luck .

Well if you have the 4 in 1's thats supposed to fix that problem ! I have been answereing questions ( that I can ) in this forum and a lot of people have problems with the SB stuff sad to say ! KT266 and soundblater all the time a problem . I know this doesn't help but , maybe you should look into another sound card maker , like the one I have . It's beatiful and you never hear anyone with probs with them . Atleast here ... lol . Check the site and some reviews and maybe it will sound attractive to you . Sorry wish I could have been more help .
Go read my post over in the AMD mobo forum section about the VIA problem unmasked. The problem is that card makers assumed that VIA was doing something with their chipset that Intel had done, and they hadn't. The result: problems. Fortunately with the upcoming KT400 chipset the problem will be solved for good.
As for getting static ound in Counter Strike, that is completely normal. I get it to and so do my friends. That static noise in counter strike especially when grenades go off is a result of just bad sound. CS has always had bad sound. Hope that was some help.
