Chipset Cooling -

Been noticing that my chipset has been hovering round 44 celsius lately, figureing when I upgrade my video card to something that actually performs thats just going to get worse.
So my questions are
As long as the chipset is under 50 is it ok?
What are some chipset cooling options others have used?
Been thinking about putting an old geforce 4 or 5 stock cooler on it since the pins match up, if I do that how would I power it? Would hooking it up to a molex be too much for it?

i dont think 50c is that hot for a chipset...

Doubtful the temps will increase on the chipset by adding a different video card.
44C is fine. I would only start to be concerned around 65-70C. Putting a better cooler on it would be fine. Generally a good passive cooler is more than enough as long as there is decent airflow through the case. Powering a fan through a molex would work fine. Just depends on the voltage you use for it, how fast or loud it will be. On a NB fan I think 5v on the fan would be plenty and may make it last longer and be quieter.

I'd put a copper heatsink on it. Those 40mm fans tend to be on the loud side. Then again, you can always have it set at a certain threshold so it only spins up on load.
Still, 44C is fine for a chipset.

the evercool is now popular among dfi boards where they come stock with a fan, the first one posted was the prior most popular both work well, you can use almost any vga cooler and have it work just make sure its low profile so the video card can fit over the top of it.
mines at like 42-48c since I have a 7800 GTX right ontop of it, but it was much hotter up to 54c before I took it off replaced the stock TIM with some AS5, so using the stock unit was fine just needed better thermal compound.
cant remember exact numbers but they are 100% safe and fuctional till about 70c and rated for like 90c or somthing really high like that so your numbers are definitly safe.

How do you guys check your nFORCE 4 chipset temp? I've read its the 'SYS' temp in speedfan, but not sure.

I get 59-60c.... and sadly Asus thought it would be fun to glue/weld/whatever the small dinky heat sink onto the motherboard.
Anyway, at those temps I did get lock ups after I added my western digital raptor, and now I use an old AMD CPU fan to help cool off the chipset. And no problems so far.
