Im still having major problems with my machine and my 3d prophet 4000xt:
gigabyte 6xbd with two pentium 3 800Mhz processors
384Mb RAM
wins2k and latest directX 8.0a and graphics card drivers
Problem is that when i go to run a heavy graphics app my monitor goes into sleep mode because theres no signal from the card.
Tried taking ram down to 265mb didnt work
One thing i thought that was im only running a 230watt PSU
so are the Kyro 2's power hungary?
never had a problem with it before and im running a similar spec ATI card at the moment.
Does anyone think that lack of power could be causing the problem?

Thanks Guy

You are having a "power supply signal issue."
On the "high end" Kyro2 pulls 30watts, PIII 30w each, DVD or CD-Rom 25w, HD's 15w each, mobo 30w, ram 10w per 128Mb, plus all your other stuff.
Beings you should be taxing your psu 30%-to-70%, 230w is not enough.
p.s. we've discussed psu's quite a bit if you care to use Search Feature for a wealth of information.
I've talked about this subject in much detail on previous posts. But the redundancy is making me very tired.
Double check your mobo drivers, also make sure enything ATI is out of the system, drivers registry settings etc.
then check your agp aperature and speed 1x/2x/4s in bios and let us know the values.

The only response back I got from Gigabyte http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/support/service_index.htm
about a similar problem was, "it probably can't supply peak power requirements."
The full explanation is that Gigabyte used a linear voltage regulator for the AGP port, which provides up to 4 amps of current. A TnT2 needed 4.5 amps of current to run, & the GeForce 256, needed 5-6 amps. Who knows how much the GeF3 or your KII needs.
The "power supply signal issue" I've even seen w/ two different Enermax PSU's. Refer to technical pages of your psu manufacturer.

This message was edited by uncleel on 06 Oct 2001 11:01 AM

Ive sent gigabyte an email asking if there is anything i can do and hopefully ill get a response. My ati is a similar spec and but i prefere the Kyro any day it just seems to have some awsome fps rates.

This message was edited by guy_fraggin_em on 06 Oct 2001 03:16 PM
