A PCX2 is a 3d only graphics chip made by the then partners of IMGTEC NEC which was based on PowerVR series 1 technology (tile based rendering). This chip was out at around the same time as Voodoo1 and was incorperated into a Videologic board called Apocalypse 3Dx.

PCX 2 is an updated version to the file extension of .pcx. It is better then pcx in terms of file size and quality. It can compress images better then PCX and at a better quality too. I say we should all upgrade to this new file format.

P.S. InfraView will be supporting this new file format in two -> three weeks with a new version available.

Can you give me some specs of the PCX2 API? What can it do? What CAN'T it do? I'm curious to what are the features this API has that would allow it to compete with the top 3: DirectX/3D, OpenGL and Glide (even though it is dead because of no more 3DFX).
Thanks!

The PowerVR-only API is OpenSGl and i believe it is ,like Glide, based on OpenGL.
