Unhappy Explanation of resolutions with 1366X768 lcd tvs. - 09-28-2005, 16:57 | posts: 238 | Location: Canada

Hi Gurus,
Once again I have a question to you all. It looks like this is the best place to start a thread for this nature.
First of all, I am hooking up my pc to this situation.
Can someone explain to me if I purchased a lCD TV with a native resolution of 1366X768 what size screen format my gaming experience would appear? Also Do I need to change the resolution on my GPU to suit the native resolution? Any further ideas upon this thread for future use would be greatly appreciated from the vast knowledge and suggestions you have. This is a 32" LCD Tv with DVI in. Thank you all once again.

Using a native resolution will make your picture sharper.
If the resolutions is different, there will be some bluriness due to rescaling.

Thank you, but that did not answer my questions. I am not completely dyslexic when it comes to high tech hardware or understanding how it works. I wanted to know if the LCD 16X9 screen would be cut off on the sides or have a full screen gaming experience? Also if the GPU needs to be set as a resolution as the same as the LCD tv?

To answeour question, it depends on several factors. The first being game support for various resolutions, some games (NFSU2) don't support widescreen resolutions. The next being your monitor, and how it handles resolutions other than it's native. Mine is adjustable to where I can choose 'fill', 'aspect' (which atempts to maintain aspect ratio, cutting off sides if required) and '1:1' which only draws the amount of pixels asked with no scaling (little box in the middle of the screen). Ofcourse if your monitor doesn't have such scaling options, some of the latest forceware drivers do. When you ask if the GPU needs to be set I'll assume you mean desktop resolution. If your native res is an option already then it will most likely be available in games supporting it, nothing extra to be done there. If not you can always add it in the forceware panel.

Thank you, that was fully understandable and self explanatory. Choosing a forceware driver should get me what I want depending upon the games parameters. Approaching each games's options and parameters will give me the individual required information that i can either look up, ask in the forum for games, or check the "destruction manual" for each already I have. If I asked for a more in depth description or detailed any further I think I would have looked in an unabridged tech manual..;-) Well put once again and thank you for the help.:-) have a great day!!!!!
