I have no explanation for this really...
I got myself a MAD MOXX 800 vivo modded@ XT PT
2 days ago replacing my old sapph. 9700 np @pro mod.
It runs with 16 pipes and full XT core and memory speeds. I dont OC the gpu ontop either.
I freshly installed 5.6 cat and ATT latest version , ran
att updater too.
I didnt change any ATT default settings besides:
in the direct3d tab
I enabled Anisotropic Filer Opt and the Trilenaer
filter opt . (which shoulndt be an issue since i have
Vsync disabled anyway)
I run 3dmark 2003 with default settings at 1024
and receive a score around 8000 (which is complete
crap, normal score should be round 12000)
when i have ATT enabled.
Especially the vertex shading scores where 50% lower
than compareable systems, also fillrates were down
by 40% etc.
When i exit ATT and ran 3dmark 2003 again i receive
a score of about 11700 . Still not what i hope it would
be but at least its up to par to compared systems.
(Barton 2500@2200 mhz, 11x200 fsb,Epox 8rda+,
1.8 v agp volts, zalman heatpipe cooled gpu+fan.
Im not quite sure if this is a mere flake in 3dmark 2003
(newest patch level) or what else it might be.
3dmark 2005 scored about 5500 (i guess thats up to
par for my rig).
GTA San Andreas & WoW perform at FPS that are far
away from spectacular...rather frigthening i would say
compared to the price and power of this GPU.
I wouldve though i can run GTA SA (which graphics
are really not close to HL2 or other much more demanding titles with screaming framerates at the
highest detail/res. Same goes for WoW .
As it is i find it horrible actually, 400 euros wasted ?
Im a bit lost and frustrated , every time i buy myself
stuff its the same crap happening , things dont work
out as i exspected..could be a lot game specific problems
i admit , BF2 Demo at full detail 1280x960 is playable
but also no spectacular FPS either, i would say sufficient
FPS but nothing to get excited about.
Maybe my board has VDD problems...on the other
hand this comp runs 2-3 years 24 hours a day now
and i had no big issues with any game so far using
my 9700 . Ok i couldnt run FSAA at high levels without
massive fps loss but that was neglectable.
my PSU is a BEQUIET Blackline Edition 450 W which has a good reputation. But im not electrically fit enough to do
measurements with voltmeters or stuff.
Suggestions on what may cause those extreme score
drops i suffer ?
