Duron 800, Abit KT7A, Win 2000pro, TNT2 Ultra, Detonator 10.8.

Using v10.8 in opengl games such as half life i am getting some image tearing. My monitor reads 60Hz (runs at 85 in windows). I have tried turning v-sync on and off in the advanced settings, with little difference. I have now also noticed that even if I choose v-sync to be off, my fps is still stuck at 59-60?? I was able to get 76 before, when v-sync was off??

How do I bump up the refresh rates in opengl and D3D ??

And has anyone else found Win2k pro to be BS driver changing...ie detanator?...the number of times I have given up, and reinstalled win 2k!!

Please help
Regards
Well I went back to 12.6 because I was getting strange green colours on the people in half life. I also installed NVMax which is great. This has all stopped the tearing, still, the games still run in 60Hz, can I improve that?
It depends on what the resolution of your game is.

For example, you might have your desktop set to 1024x786 resolution with 80Hz refresh reate, but Half-Life might be set to 800x600 with 60Hz refresh rate.

Here is what you should do. Check the resolution that you are running Half-Life in. Then go back to windows, and set your desktop to that resolution. When you have done that, go to your adapter settings, and set the refresh rate for that resolution.

That refresh rate will be stored, and now you can change back to whatever resolution you want your desktop to be.
Hi, afaik it's a bug in the implemetantion of DirectX or OpenGL in Win2K.
You have to make some changes in your Registry.
Well its much easier to download NVREFFIX (i don't know from where)
But it solved my problem with the Refreshrate.
It's Freeware.
You may also try out PowerStrip
www.entechtaiwan.com

greetz killerbutt

This message was edited by killerbutt on 29 Jun 2001 02:13 AM

another good program for adjusting refresh rates (and my favorite ) is a hztool. Just serach for it in yahoo/google, you'll find it.
