X600 is the same thing as a 9600.

I'm having the same question...

http://www.rojakpot.com/default.aspx...var1=98&var2=0

Will the 128MB 9700 outperform the x600 64MB ?

yeah according to that link there the X600 has 256 bit memory? is that right?

I'm heading towards the 9700 at the moment..... '6800 ultra GO' is way, way off my list

I think that the chart isn’t correct,
Radeon Mobility X600
http://www.ati.com/products/mobility...600/specs.html
Radeon Mobility 9700
http://www.ati.com/products/Mobility.../features.html

both GPU:
On-chip 64MB DDR (128-bit)
On-chip 128MB DDR (128-bit)

I think that I will go to the 9700 with the 128MB or 256MB.
Playing the latest games with 64MB would take a BIG performance drop.

If you're going for Acer, get an X700...

Mine's great - REALLY fast for a mobile chip, especially for such a thin, light laptop.

I had the 128mb version for a while (paired with a 2.13ghz processor) and that thing FLEW - downgraded to this because I really don't need that much power in a laptop (buying a new gaming desktop anyway )...

You'd be really happy with the x700 if you're dead set on Acer.

Just one warning - Acer uses cheap Conexant audio chips, which are absolutely HORRENDOUS. The output is distorted (To listen to music you need to set the preamp on Winamp's EQ to -6dB. This results in quite a volume level loss... if you intend to use this laptop for music, forget it. The sound is adequate for games and movies, though. Note, this is with external speakers through the line out/headphone jack - The built-in speakers sound fine for laptop speakers (****ty in other words :p)).
