I have my 6800 clocked to 400 core 860 memory stable for gaming. However, in an attempt to find the cause of my 6800's stuttering problem, I've discovered that, through the hardware monitoring utility in rivatuner, my core will dip back down to 325 for a while and then go back up to 400 when I play games. I think this may have a lot to do with my problem. Any idea what could cause this, and how to fix it? I'll experiment on my own in the mean time.

Tried setting 2D and 3D to same settings but no luck. Also, I am using XG 76.50 HD drivers

Can you monitor your GPU temperature? Perhaps your processor is throttling back because it is running too warm.

That's the only reason I can think of for your gpu clock to dip down like that.

that's exactly what i was gonna say. Your gpu is probably getting too hot. The clocks you are running may be too high? I can only think it's a heat issue..

According to rivatuner and coolbits 2.0, I'm not going above 60C.

its more likely going to fast for its own good

the faster the chip goes the more likely its gunna become unstable

it probably needs the voltage upped

Ok, I know what you're probably going to say, but let me ask anyway... To up the voltage, I need to update it's BIOS, right? If so, I'm kind of screwed because I don't own a floppy drive. If not, how do I up the voltage? The only option I can see in my system BIOS is to up voltage to the AGP slot. Will that affect it at all?
