Default digital question - 03-28-2005, 23:52 | posts: 146 | Location: NY

how do you guys watch movies and such using the digital output of your soundcard/onboard? the only way it would work is if the speakers are positioned just right, you cant adjust the volume of each speaker to compensate for distance? i just dont see how they cant figure out a way to adjust a digital signal...

yeah i have, i was always kinda shocked there was no per speaker option, you can turn up the rear two speakers, turn up the center, and turn up the sub....then i think theres like panorama and stuff, maybe thats it?

edit: its only for like pl2 music mode, which wouldnt effect my movies, as they are dolby digital usually

thats you options man Prologic II...Why wouldn't these levels and such effect your sound?....oh because you mean..your movies are dolby digital so they won't be decoded to PLII, I think it'll work that way too but I am not sure..do some experimenting..
What happens when you set it to PLII..set your levels and such..

you cant change it when it detects dobly digital it just chooses that one,

its not really that much of a problem in movies, cuz theres not always sound coming out of all speakers, so you cant really tell ya know, like in music its bad, movies is alrite

maybe the decoder on the speakers "assumes" your software player has config options for audio...I use BS player and AC3 filter...etc..but I am not sure because I don't use digital connection...next upgrade.

it probably assumes digital out leads to an amp of some sort....kind of stupid if you ask me

also since your my audio guru here, think 40$ is too much for a new LP

Price is relative, I have spoken with Audiohpiles who have paide upwards of $1200 for vintage bluenote jazz records..mind you there playback systems were in the very high end and very, very expensive..so the question is. is $40 too much to you?.....probably sound pretty good pumping through them 5500's...enjoy.
