Default nVidia 6600GT + 3D Revelator on Windows 2K3 - 03-13-2005, 19:36 | posts: n/a

hiya,

I have a 6600GT and, for various reasons, have to use Windows 2003 Enterprise as my OS. I have downloaded the latest forceware drivers from nvidia.com along with the stereo drivers, but enabling stereo doesn't seem to make any difference.

I have tried the medical test and the test application, but the two images are not being interlaced (i.e. no artefacts) - even with stereo enabled, the picture just looks 2D (and the glasses don't do anything).

Does anyone know if stereo is actually supported under windows 2003, or how to get it working?

System setup: P4 Xeon 3.06Ghz, nVidia 6600GT AGP8x, 2Gb ram, Win2K3 Server Enterprise

cheers

zw

Don't know if its supported under 2003, but what you need is to use the drivers as pairs. Now, the older 61.77 pair did not support 6600GT, so try to use the 71.84 forceware and stereo.

That's what I am using. 71.84/71.84. The ForceWare drivers work fine, but stereo doesn't do anything at all.

If it makes any difference, the medical test image is duplicated - it doesn't fill the screen, but the same thing is displayed twice, one on the left hand side of the screen and one on the right.

That shouldn't be like that. Well, i installed them, tried the medical image, the image doesn't work. I don't see it like you do though, i get a lot of lines instead of the pic. I just go out, click on "yes" (As if everything were fine) and when i go to the "Test application" instead of the medical test, everything works great.

Are you using Win2003 Server Enterprise? I can't see why the OS would make any difference, (I am using DX9.0c), but it doesn't make any attempt to draw a stereo image (i.e. the two images and switch between them). Everything "works" except that nothing is in stereo, irrespective of the setting.

Incidentally, this is off a clean install of Win2K3, so its not an old-drivers-being-around problem.

Well, as far as i know, the 2003 is a server oriented OS. So, some '"functions" that the stereo needs, might not be supported from the OS or disabled. If you check out, the stereo driver says 9x,2000,me and XP. (I know that, it doesn't necessarily mean that 2003 are out.)

I'm aware of that, hence my question

Cheers though - I was just wondering if anyone knew if there was a way to get it going under 2k3.

Not the best solution but...

If you have a big enough disk and the install disks of Win98se or XP then you could set up a dual boot machine.

Then play your stereo3d on a stereo3d friendly op-system.
