First off I would like to start out by saying that the pic on the first page wil not display, you might want to check that out .
My question is, I have the SiluroGF256 (Its a GTS DDR). Can this be done to this specific Gf2 GTS? also, is it easy to ruin the card?
And is there anything else I should take care of before even attempting this?
Thank you for your time.

I did the mod on a Gf2 (creative):
NEXT go to Elsa thier drivers for
the Gloria III work for ANY Quadro 2 Pro because these are the first drivers of nvidias and elsas cooperation:
AND also the mystic Maxtreme drivers for 3dstudio and the autocad drivers work too!!!
MAYBE someone can tell me how I could make these Drivers work for a normal Quadro as well.

To be honest mate, I have real trouble believing you - I have seen this modification before on a number of other sites, and it has never produced the level of performance increase that you are describing.
Load up Quake 3 / MDK2 / Mercedes Truck Racing / Any other common game and give us some benches... I'd love to believe, but I'm old and cynical.

I don't agree with you...your GeForce DOES perform better (with the Quadro BIOS).
On a GeForce DDR, the core is clocked at 135 MHz instead of 120 and the memory at 333.
Many "professional" features are now enabled (try to run a benchmark under 3D Studio or any OpenGL CAD Program).
If you use the Silicon Graphics' BIOS, you can use their highly optimized drivers...
Besides these previous points, it doesn't speed up much conventional games.
Pat

Even if u look the madonion database, the quadro2 is a lot below the geforce2... i was planning to convert my v7700, but i need performance, and if it will slow my geforce, i don't think it would be a good idea...
maybe with the silicon graphics drivers and bios... could you be more specifc, and make some benchmarks??
or maybe the dot antialiasing or some feature that make it look better, is what slow it??
txs!

Don't you think that if it had made such a difference NV would have done it to all their cards? Even if not all their cards, they would have released an "Ultra" that did it.

As I mentionned in the article, this mod should NOT be tried on an Ultra board...the DeviceID coding is completely different.
I'll try to find that information for you...
Regards,
Pat

I found some information : It's possible to modify a GeForce 2 PRO to a Quadro2Pro but not an Ultra...The DeviceID cannot be modified on this board (at least I'm not aware of).
Hope this helps.
Pat

It's not. It's a professional CAD/workstation card that gives a boost in PRO/E, Autocad, Maya, 3DSMax etc. If you hear someone else saying that he/she wants a Quadro to use with Quake/[other run-about-in-the-maze-shooting-people-who-run-about-in-the-maze-shooting-people-who...] -type of games, please inform them for me. Thanks.

Yesterday we posted an guide on how to modify your GeForce/GeForce2 to a Quadro/Quadro2.
The author, Saladino Patrick, got a few questions if he could post some bechmarks to compare the performance of a Quadro vs. the regular GeForce. He found some interesting stuff on the web and these benchies are now included in the article (last page!)
------------------
Hilbert Hagedoorn - Chief Editor
- "Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else."

I'm considering modding my Asus 6800 but I can not overclock my memory to 333Mhz without getting graphic corruption.. Just wondering if the mod will fix that??? At the moment my memory can only be at 320Mhz without corruption. The Chip itself is fine, I can run it at 150Mhz all day.
Thanks.

Hello,
I haven't found any info about modifying the Hercules GeForce 2 MX retail. It has a different design from the ref design of Nvidia.
That is why I have posted pics of my card to help people to identify it and maybe find a solution for modding this card:
http://members.nbci.com/_XMCM/pga370/mx2/index.html
Thanks for any input.
Diego.
The PGA Project page http://www.pga370.com

Yep, seen that picture from tnaw_xtennis.
Originally read somewhere that it was first done by person named Mad Apple or something like that.
This mod has been on the net for at least more than 8 months from memory.
It is very helpful that one can purchase a cheap Geforce and turn it into a workstation class card. Modify own card and it works.
