ok here is my problem but before i start i will need to get my frustration out or i wont mak any sense........GRRRRRR DAMNIT!!!!!!
Whew....there now let me begin i got a card a while ago when my dad brought it home from work....any way i installed it an a different mother board than i have now it was a dell standard issue something and after a while a few months or maybe a year i had a problem EAX console would not work
so i did the natural thing and reinstalled the drivers worked perfectly but then a few months later it happened again and again and again then i got a new mother board the one i have now and another ugly problem showed its head tearing AND artifacting on my graphics port so now i have three problems luckly im getting a new mobo soon and that will be fixed but i still have that one little problem the EAX cosole problem it still wont work it also closes media sourse when i try to open it thru there and of course i could reinstall them AGAIN but i dont want to i shouldnt have to and im tired of it....any help besides reinstalling the drivers would be nice (unless of course a PERMANENT fix requires it then i would do it...
but it is very annoying because i need cmss to work and it wont unless i have eax working. So please help me!

DO a reinstall, BUT use Driver cleaner and remove all the creative apps like the media player and others...clean with driver cleaner. install Drivers and sound config apps of CD..NO junk-media players or anything like that they cause problems..then goto Creative site and update your drivers they will overwrite where needed and you should end up with a nice clean working set-up. SOmetimes when you install those other apps because they have a line to the EAX console and such aswell they mess things up!....let me know how it works for you...remember no junk...Just base drivers..and sound config apps like EQ,EAX console etc...

the Driver cleaner from www.driverheaven.net is very good for this sort of thing..you should make it part of your driver install/unistall routine we all have to go through...hope that helps. i think this is it

Try the newest drivers. was anything installed that might be conflicting -software/hardware? if no try newest drivers or moving a slot...
use driver cleaner before you install newest drivers. Remember they are only drivers and you will have to install all apps again..like eq, mixer..etc

Said you Wave out is failing on that test...now yo uhave to figure out why.
Can you take the card to a shop or test it yourself in another machine? I think it may be pooched. Sorry. Could be wrong though, so this is why I am telling you to get it tested...good luck and let us know what happens.

Okay.. so my question, how in the world do i solve the pci and VGA conflict? I did basically everything.... tried several diff bios.. drivers for my x-fi sound card... VGA.. nforce... no luck.. Resetted bios to normal.... changed hardware around... disabled anything i dont use in the bios... no luck!

The pci and vga conflict is making my sound lag/stutter in heavy 3D games.. I played UT2004 and the sound would lag/stutter along with the graphics.

I tested with onboard sound and the suttering/lagging is GONE, but i really hate onboard sound..

help.. please.. Been trying to solve this for 1 week now. I even reinstalled win xp pro and updated everything.. no luck!!

I have an X-Fi Fatal1ty and my problem is I can't seem to make the remote work. I've plugged/unplugged the ribbon cables that connect the souncard with the front bay console a lot of times and still no remote.

Everytime I open the entertainment center an "No working IR device." error pops up. The checkbox for the remote control is also greyed out. However both the headphone and mic input of the front bay console are working and I can see the red light inside the console is also turned on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've got a few questions:-
Q: I apologise if this is a stupid question:- Is the port on the back of my X-fi Xtremegamer with the red glowing red light supposed to be SPDIF? Can I plug the Digital I/O Module into it and use it for optical? The Creative site doesn't mention the X-fi Xtremegamer as a supported card.

Q: I think that the Xtremegamer lacks hardware-based DD/DTS decoding, but I should be able to use the I/O module to output via optical with software-based decoding through PowerDVD/WinDVD/etc?

Q: I've disabled my onboard audio driver in the device manager, but Task Manager says that Realtek control panel still loads anyway. What's the best way to stop this, uninstall the Realtek driver and then disable onboard audio in the BIOS?

Thanks in advance.

Yes that is a Digital OUTPUT ONLY.....you can use a optical cable. The Digital I/O module from Creative Labs is NOT compatible.

Just disable the onboard in the bios and remove the drivers....

So I'd need a toslink female-3.5mm male adapter to use my existing cables, yes?

Hi

I just reinstalled windows and I was trying to install drivers for my X-Fi Platinum. I won this computer in a contest and the bastards didn't send me any driver discs whatsoever.
I downloaded the latest drivers for my card from the creative site and tried to install them, but my system COMPLETELY hangs up when it says "updating windows drivers" or something. Mouse won't move or anything. The only thing I can do is press the reset button.

Do I really need the original CD and then update if I need to?

I have to say that this is the worst POS I have ever owned.

You shouldn't need the original driver disk BUT verify you have the correct drivers. Perhaps you chould contact the promoters and ask them where your disks are?

Well I downloaded that .iso image and tried to install the drivers with it. Same thing. Computer locked up completely when it said "installing windows drivers". Then I tried to install the drivers in safe mode and I thought it worked. Installer finished installing and I restarted.

But guess what? My screen shut down when the windows loading screen went away. I can only log in to windows in safe mode.

As I said: This is the worst POS I have ever owned

Any ideas on what's causing this? I installed windows again three times yesterday and I'm not doing it for the 4th time.
