how about niether.dude u will be very disatisfied with that 5200.i got 1 lookin at it as we speak figuring if i should crush it,break it in half or throw it away.i fell for that same trick.Geforce FX.its no where near the 5900 series.dude if u can atleast get a 5700 with 128bit mem dont be fooled into 64bit ram.a powercolorcolor 9800se is fast but make sure that has 256bit mem.u can mod it into a 9800xt easy

Get a GeForce4 Ti 4600/4800 then. It's not DX 9 capable (DX 8.1 only), but you wont be able to use DX 9 with those 5200 POS anyway, and the Ti4800 will kick some serious 3Dbutt (it's even faster than 5700 in DX 8.1)...

Eh, you should've told us you are not interested in graphics performance, but an floating point processor acceleration for audio work.
As i suggested in the other thread, get a 68XX card for that (or at least a 5900/5950) . You need all the shading performance you can get since shading = floating point performance.

I bet they don't support ATI because of the lack of 32 bit precission (ATI has 24bit)

It's practicaly the same thing - the only thing that's different is the way the drivers work -> for a Quadro GPU they are defaulting to precision & quality, for a GeForce GPU they are defaulting to low precision for performance.

thanks Alec
I will stick with the fx 5200 to quadro cause audio FX don't use a lot of cpu power.
This UAD card wich coasts $777 is very old PCI fraphic card and still handles a lot of FX.

one question though

When I soft mod FX 5200 to quadro, can I use the dual display option the same as the quadro?Divide screen and stuff like that?
best regards

Someone else will have to answer that - i am not into dual screens myself since it tends to kill performance. I only use the video overlay mirror feature from time to time in order to watch DVD's on my DVI enabled TV.
