Default Postal 2 performance - 09-14-2004, 22:13 | posts: 311 | Location: England

Postal 2 (with the patch) seems to run quite slow on my computer. Doom 3 seems to run a fair bit quicker for me. All the graphical effects are on max - does turning one of these down help with the overall performance of the game?

Postal 2 and UT2003 run like ****e on mine. Performance in UT2003 is literally a 1/4 of what my performance is like in UT2004.

Yeah, try turning different settings down will help, I don't have postal 2 installed at the moment so I don't remember off hand. Lower resolutions and no anti aliasing can make a large difference in performance, try those along with other settings.

I played Postal 2 last year on the 9600Pro, equivalent card to what you have now and I think I played in medium settings though performance was still average. Basically, it's the Unreal 2.0 engine, early version probably and not done well so it runs like crap (a la DX:IW).
Pardon my insolence but why are you playing a derogative game such as Postal 2?

Specs are on the right ------>

I recently installed Postal 2 + the patch as well. Although I have uninstalled it now cos I need the disk space for other things.

It definitly appears it's not one of the most graphically optimized games in the world.

I had everything maxed and res at 1280*1024 and the framerates were a little bit jumpy, although not to the point of being totally unplayable. I reckon it was jumping from 30-60+ in certain area's.
