Default Good Motherboard for AMD 64 bit system - 09-09-2004, 01:40 | posts: n/a

Hey I was looking into building an AMD 64 bit system and was looking for some advice about what motherboards are good. I know many people like the MSI NEO but I was wonerding if their were any other boards that were almost as good. I was maybe looking at the ASUS K8N NFORCE3, does anyone have info on this board? Thanks in advance.

Well choose what chipset you want....and go from there....

looks like your wanting an nforce...

personally i wouldnt get the MSI....****ty computer IMO....but Asus makes a great product.

If only Abit supported the nforce chipsets anymore....that would make for a damn good board.

When i was thinking of upgrading my old 1800 XP , Nforce2 mobo.. thats what i did choose the chipset first.

I was realy impressed with the Nforce2 mobo i had and thought i would stay with that chipset..

I hav'nt looked back...

The only problem i have with mine is the inability to lock the PCI.Other than that it's running fine.
Still pondering a Nforce board though....

I wanna overlock 200mhzish to kinda even out with a newcastle core...

i wonder if even 200mhz is possible without pci/agp lock

nForce 3 Ultra - the first Shuttles to use AMD64s used crappy boards, the new G5 series cases are very nice. HyperTransport 2000 mt/s, gigabyte LAN, nice...

Only grumble is no PCI-X on the board, but who cares.

Probably not, but you wont know until you try! I think its a safer bet to get a board with AGP lock on it, just to make sure.
