Default Dual Monitor issues, what are my options. - 08-24-2004, 19:39 | posts: n/a

Sorry I don't know the proper name for it, but I'm trying to get a monitor extension for my computer, where I can drag windows from one monitor and not the other (not a mirror image).

Heres what I have.
Nvidia 256mb GeForce 5600
VGA port
DVI port
S-Video Port

I do not really have the open PCI slots for a second video card, nor do I want to invest in a PCI video card anyways. What are my options here if I'm looking to buy another CRT for my dual monitors?

If I put an adapter on the DVI to plug in a second VGA monitor, will I be able to get what I need?

You do not need another video card. I would recommend having two of the same monitors so it is easy on the eyes when you drag from one screen to the next. You might want to upgrade video drivers but you should be good to go.
