Default Doom 3 ATi shader tweak - from Humus - 08-20-2004, 03:23 | posts: 44 | Location: Australia | User is Offline

Hey
I don't know if this has been posted here yet ,sorry if old.
Apparently you can expect a 14% or better lift from this one line shader change from the B3D member, Humus, who just joined ATi.

First, open your doom3\base folder. Doubleclick on the pak000.pk4 file. Associate the file with an app like WinRar. With this file open in WinRar, go to the glprogs directory in the file. In there you'll find the shaders. The interaction.vfp file seems to be the main rendering shader.
So doubleclick the interaction.vfp file to open it (you may have to associate the .vfp extension with a text editor like notepad or wordpad first since we're going to edit the file).

Extract and copy the text out of this one via notepad,
http://esprit.campus.luth.se/~humus/...manceTweak.rar

Overight the text in the original interation.vfp with the text from this one.

Save the file and close your text editor. WinRar will ask if you want to update the file in the archive, select yes. Close WinRar.

It definetly worked for me, made it a lot smoother.

Again sorry if old.

Catchya

Yeah, it's been posted but at least it has an obvious topic title now. =)

Does help in more busy scenes.

It's buried in various Doom 3 tweak related topics, heh heh.

Performance with the tweak varies with different hardware and settings. Still, better than nothing at all.
