Default Super Pi scores! - 08-10-2004, 09:15 | posts: 29 | Location: Finland

Hello!

Super Pi is a nice test to check the performance of the processor!

You can download it from: http://www.muropaketti.com/superpi/

(this site is in finnish, sorry!) But you can find superpi.exe (109kb) there!

The score on 8M is: 8 minutes 51 seconds

Pentium 4 520 2,8GHz @ 2940MHz
256mb DDR2 533MHz @ 560MHz

It would be nice to have something to compare with and
to se the difference between AMD and Intel!

Ok, one said to me: That you need 33% higher clockfrequency
on Pentium to get the same performance that AMD do!

That seems to be true becouse I have exactly 33% higher
clockfrequency then you, and we have almost the same time
on Super Pi!

why r u guys doiing the 8 million test? do the 1million test first then the 8m if you want.

33 seconds for 1m, and others

the fact is a lot of factors affect these times, some people run certain OS just to get better times. XP is not the best OS for superpi times. I think NT or 2000 is best, but not sure.

superpi does not support Hyperthreading, and intel chips suffer big time for this. some people can get it to work, but I saw a guy do 41 seconds(1m) with a P4EE @3.2 which obviously sucks. he tried turning off his HT from bios and the score was worse. AMD has advantage.

how is your memory running over 600mhz? I noticed it is DDR2, but that is really fast. Your FSB is 228...so are u using a divider for the mem to get that speed?

Nope, no dividers. Yesterday I turned off the DOT (Dynamic Overclock Technology), and clocked a bit more:

Pentium 4 2,8GHz @ 3290MHz (14*235)
DDR2 533MHz @ 626MHz

8M SuperPi: 7:32

They usually test with the 8M here in Finland. You should try the 8M test, the record with an AMD in Finland is 5:15, maybe you can beat it!

no kidding...and i cant beleive u can do that with 2g of memory either...most people with really high FSB run 2x512 at most, ideally for benching 1x512 or even 1x256.
Congrats now when someone needs to know what Pi is to 8million decimal places you can have it for him in 5minutes 52 seconds. LOL.
Question: what voltage exactly do you use for over 2700ghz? Im going to try really hard to get 200x13.5 stable...but i think i maxed my voltage last time i tried...lol

look at your ram timings in your sig and the ones in my sig notice that is the only setting you need to hit 2.7ghz my previous fsb speeds before changing to tras 15 were identical to yours every place you are maxing out at 204fsb x13 same as me 12x213 fsb same but now i can run at up to 2724mhz slightly unstable, 2712 pretty stable, and 2700mhz rock stable even more stable than you at 2.68 i bet . also when bios says oc failed it is wrong or a little off from restarting all day long reboot on same settings just to make sure oc did fail. then a new os install after all the ocing mess does wonders for stability reformat drives when reinstalling fresh os

bill 13.5 x 200 for 2700 isnt even stable for me, I can get into window, but most of my superpi test fail. Temps are ok, so.....

and yeah ill work on the fsb more....damn u and your faster than mine cpu!!

now we are talking...what i dont understand is if your fsb is 235 isnt your memory running at only 470mhz if you arent using a divider or ratio? Can u explain how you run your mem at 313mhz when the fsb is 235mhz? am I missing something about the new ddr2?
